Great find PPL! I could only barely hear it though. And my media player is so goffed up that I couldn't see any of the video either. *sigh* Thanks for posting it though! ;D

Hey everyone! I know I mentioned somewhere that I got these Keaton/Chaplin DVDs....
Anyway, I watched the two Keaton films this week. (Steamboat Bill Jr. and The General) And they were so great! I mean, it takes awhile to get used to the whole silent film deal... but even being 75 years old films, they still made me laugh! A lot!! Keaton really was an amazing guy... you have to keep in mind that there were no digital effects, no stunt guys... he really did that stuff!
I can't recommend him enough. <3 Keaton! ;D

I can't believe I am triple posting in here... but otherwise it won't show there's a new post! So... I finished watching the two Chaplin films! The first one was funny, but kinda not really. I don't know, but I didn't like it as much as the Keaton flicks. Then I watched the second one, The Kid. So sweet and heatwarming! I fell in love with Chaplin in this movie and I have to find some more of his stuff. I think I am going to rent that movie about him starring Robert Downey Jr. too. You guys should really check this stuff out! ;D

Aww, that's too bad! I went and rented that film I mentioned. It's just called 'Chaplin' and it was great! He was such an incredible part of the whole history of Hollywood... not just silent films. Without him, movies today wouldn't be the same, I think. I'll come back with a proper review later today or tomorrow.

*sniff* Nobody else will join me in my new Chaplin-fandom. Oh well, this is cool, so I am gonna keep talking anyway and maybe one day someone will like it. CC summary of the movie 'Chaplin' So you'll know what I'm talking about. OK, it's a film, not a documentary... but it's based on a biography and Chaplin's own autobiography. Chaplin is played by Robert Downey Jr. (Well cast, I might add. He was amazingly perfect.) and Chaplin's own daughter plays his mother. It chronicles his life from early childhoos growing up poor in England, through his vaudeville days and a trip to America, then his splendid career in films, his exile from America for being a 'believed' communist, and finally ending with his acceptance of an Academy award a few years before he died. Plus all of the pranks, pratfalls, girlfriends, marriages, stories, and scandals along the way. CC talks about the movieFrom the time (as I mentioned in an earlier post) I watched 'The Kid' (which is featured heavily in this film), I fell in love with Charlie. (And since this movie, I have to say that in a cockney accent. ) After seeing this, I love him even more. Now, I can't attest to how true to life this film was, but I imagine that it's pretty close. At least that's what I want to believe, anyhow. Not only was an amazing actor and comedian, he was a brilliant director, producer, and writer. He did it all! He innovated things in filmaking, and not just silent films. OK.... I could talk and talk ALL DAY about how much I loved this movie and they Chaplin they portrayed... but I'm done for right now. But I'll just say that it made me cry at the end. Anybody??

CC, I love Charlie and Buster, most of my angel training was on these two, so I so know where you're coming from. My favourite is still Steamboat Bill though and I still do this when watching it. But I will go and look for 'Chaplin' though as I'd love to see what RDJnr did with it. Thanks for the description.

That's right, you did! ;D Yay, somebody to talk to! 'Steamboat Bill Jr.' was one of the Keaton films I bought, too. But I liked the other one, 'The General,' a bit better. I guess I was just impressed with all the stuff he did on the train. But SbBJr did have me too. Keaton walking around in the tornado was awesome, and how did they do that shot of him flying around on that tree?? I would love to see more of Keaton's stuff too. But Chaplin is definitely my fave of the two. 'The Kid' was so funny, and yet made me cry, and I just fell in love with The Tramp. And after seeing bits of his other films in 'Chaplin,' I just have to find them! Particularly, 'The Gold Rush,' 'Modern Times,' 'City Lights,' and 'The Great Dictator.' I am fascinated. He was such an interesting guy! I'm at the library right now... and I think I won't be able to leave until I find me a book.

CC's fanscination with Charlie Chaplin continues...Hehe, his intials are CC. And all of you fans of creepy aliens, guess what his middle name is... Spencer! I checked out two books yesterday, and am now on a quest to find more of his movies. I'm halfway done with the first book, and will likely finish tonight. I think I might be feeling an obsession coming on... Yeah, I really really really am liking him. Interesting fact: He was married as many times as Johnny's been engaged. Or maybe more! And all of his wives were waaaaay younger than him... such a cradle robber. Seriously, I am talking to myself here. But I don't care. Left to my own devices, this should become a full-fledged fandom in about... a week. I want a Little Tramp doll, so I can squeeze him and hug him, because he's so cute, I can't take it. I could use a little help here...

CC still wants to talk about ChaplinI know no one is reading this, but it's better than talking to myself. Besides, there is a tornado pretty close by to where I am, and I'm pretty freaked out, and this will take my mind off of it. Yay. Ok then. Charlie... I had no idea that he was English. I just always assumed that he was an American, but oh no, not so. In fact, he got a lot of flack for never becoming a citizen, when he had lived here for almost 40 years. And eventually, the government gave him so much hassle about it, that he left and moved to Switzerland for 20 years. He didn't come back until a few years before he died. Very unnecessary and quite sad, I thought. He died the very year that I was born... I so wish I could have been alive when he was. Well, I mean I was, but I was an infant. I wish I could've discovered him while he was alive. *sigh* <3 Charlie

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ;D You're really reading this? ;D 'Cuz I can talk all day here. More interesting facts: "The Gold Rush" ~ birth of the Roll Dance. "Limelight" ~ only film with Chaplin and Keaton together "The Great Dictator" ~ satire of Hitler, who copied Charlie's trademark moustache. I want to see all these films so bad, I tell you!!!

I'm too tired to put all the quotes in. Love the intials CC and especially his middle name ;D You can most certainly keep talking about it, cause I'll keep talking back about it. Have to get a copy of Limelight, both of them in one movie I have already got Modern Times, Charlie is so great in it, he sings so you can actually hear his voice for a lot longer than just one or two words. He is so totally brilliant in it, it was like watching a tennis match, on the conveyer belt line, so funny. I hope the typhoon has past without much damage, they can be a worry sometimes, I'm so glad I'm out of our cyclone zone now.
