Here is the info page on Charlie Chaplin from IMDB, and here is their info page on Buster Keaton. They were two of the most influential comedians who ever lived, and Johnny Depp took their techniques to heart in playing Sam. Here is where we get to discuss them! Feel free to post info, pictures, have discussions, what ever you want. But remember, have fun! ;D

Nice idea RA! ;D
I watched the little Chaplin short on the B & J DVD...as it was really cute! I'd never really seen anything of his, but little clips, and I was really impressed. If you all haven't watched it, you should! ;D

Yeah, I've seen "The Gold Rush", a Little Tramp picture. It's a hoot!
And if you've ever seen the movie A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Buster Keaton is in that, and he is awesome! I love the type of comedy they perfected!

They are the greatest! Their work still stands up as some of the funniest stuff you'll ever see! There was another guy, too, who was really good. I'll see if I can remember his name. He's the one hanging from that clock on that skyscraper...gah...can't remember!

Got it! Harold Lloyd! Amazing actor, comedian and stunt man... No nets, no special effects, no blue screen--he's really doing this stuff!!! And FUNNY!!! ;D I don't think Johnny did any of Lloyd's schtick in Benny and Joon, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd researched him.

Ah! Yes, that's it!
I think there was another one as well, the director mentions him in the commentary on the DVD...I think he's French...I need to watch the commentary again lol.

Yes, I know who mean...the director did mention a French comedian. *thinks* The name escapes me ...but I know that he was the inspiration for the scene with the chair and the mop. Love that one! ;D

The gif is kinda herky jerky...you have to see the actual film to get the feel for it. His facial expressions are to die for! ;D
