Whoa, that backstory begs the question--- what did non-pirate Jack look like?! Not nearly as hot as pirate Jack, I'm guessing.

I must know. I've been trying to picture this supposed clean-cut Jack. It's not working.

Dean Corso. Clean-cut Jack looks like Dean Corso, king of the book pirates. But without the gray hair and glasses. Does that help, CC?

But with a hat, eh? No, it's not Corso... he would still have long hair, I should think.

i dont think jack was ever clean cut..seems a bit impossible to me. hehe...
and about the black pearl being previously named the wicked wench..that is very interesting because the name of the ship that rests inside the pirates of the caribbean disneyland attraction is named the wicked wench. very cool....

This is from Wikipedia, who actually has an entry for Jack Sparrow. Much if the information is the same as in the earlier SPOILER....but it has some new info too.
v v v v v v v v v
v v v v v v v v According to to the official Disney website and the game based on the film series, Jack Sparrow was at one point employed by the East India Trading Company. He helmed the Wicked Wench, an EITC merchant vessel, performing odd jobs for Lord Cutler Beckett. However, after refusing to transport slaves, Beckett sanctioned the torching (and sinking) of the Wicked Wench, and branded Jack Sparrow a pirate. Jack came to embrace his outlaw status and became a very successful pirate, with no desire to return to life under the command of others. Later, Jack petitioned Davy Jones to retrieve his ship, wich he rechristened as The Black Pearl. From the number of his exploits and limited knowledge of his pre-pirate existence, one can assume that for the majority of his adult life, Jack devoted himself to pirating and spent relatively little time operating legitimately.

I'm just so totally in love with the fact that Jack Sparrow has a BIRTHDAY!!! I'm totally gonna have a special place in my heart for October 25th from now on. Actually CC I saw an artistic rendeirng of a younger Jack Sparrow and I rather liked her take on him. Based on Don Juan but there's something a bit dark and harsher in his face it's hard to explain so I shall simply link to artistic rendeirng because I can't articulate it. honorat.livejournal.com/39323.html

Well, he did. Last time I checked the entry on Wikipedia he had a birthday listed. It must have been something unconfirmed that was later edited out now that I go back to find it again. Which sucks on a whole cause I was totally digging Jack with a birthday. I swear it was there though...either that or the bats in my belfry are acting up again. ;D

Heh - and the totally ironic thing is is that ships actually have belfries.

*yoinks thread up*
Ahem, I just wanted to point out that we are all quite used to calling Elizabeth, "Lizzie." But did anyone notice that Jack actually called her this? I thought that was rather funny.
